At the Nordic IT Security Conference in Stockholm, Sweden on 26 October 2016, the partners behind the award-winning, free and open-source Qvarn Platform will jointly demonstrate how a mobile phone can be used together with a Yubikey USB authentication device for secure personal identification. With this physical “mobile handshake,” people can digitally authenticate their identity both online and at physical locations – for secure access to person registers, workplaces and other domains.

The Qvarn platform is designed for use by the public sector, educational institutions and small-to-medium sized enterprises, for securely managing information of a personal or otherwise sensitive nature. This includes medical records, research findings, elderly care data, employee digital identities, and more. The platform currently houses the identity information of close to one million construction workers across the Nordic and Baltic region, and is key in efforts to combating the grey economy in the building sector.

Privacy by Design is central to the architecture of Qvarn and the platform has been specifically developed to enable companies or organizations to comply with the European Union Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Qvarn has been third party audited to a security level of high.

In recognition of its industry-leading security profile, in May 2016 the Qvarn Platform was awarded the prize for “Best Approach on Improving Governance and Mitigating Risks” at the European Identity & Cloud Awards 2016 in Munich, Germany. This top industry award recognized Qvarn for “successfully reducing risk, adding business value and delighting users.”

The development and provision of Qvarn is a combined open-source effort bringing together the best service providers from across the globe for software engineering, authentication, access management and control.

We will be at exhibition stand number 02:47 at the Nordic IT Security Conference. Welcome!
