Infrastructure Operations
The operations of critical network information centres, network operation centres, information security centres and security operations centres, require both specialized knowledge and exceptional accuracy in critical operations. The successful development and maintenance of these operations is more challenging than most, as even the smallest mistakes in the production environment may be externally visible and cause interruptions to business.
Each of these services needs to be developed by a competent team with a solid foundation and experience in running such a service. This makes these services difficult to build within the organization and find a partner capable of developing and operating the service.
Critical operations services are often dedicated to a separate team to assure the quality in all circumstances. Infrastructure has become too complex to be monitored and operated by a single team concentrated on the lowest common denominator in operations. The security aspects of network information, network operation, information security and security operations are a full-time task in continuous learning of the changing network environment.
We have long experience in operations of many crucial Internet infrastructure systems, both in the most developed countries and emerging markets.
The Network Information Center (NIC)
The objective of a NIC is to administer and operate the Internet domain names under its Top Level Domain - either country level (as in .fi or .ae) or generic (as in .com or .gov).
Typical parts of Nixu NIC solutions are:
- ccTLD Domain Name Registry – database tracking domain names and IP addresses
- WHOIS Service –protocol to query the owners of domain names, IP addresses and autonomous system numbers
- Local Internet Registry (LIR) – allocating IP addresses to its customers
Our service covers the development of DNS administration rules and procedures, design and implementation of the systems and training the local staff.
The Network Operation Centre (NOC)
NOC manages the traffic in IP networks. This includes availability and configurations, especially of the routers, error diagnosis and performance analysis, traffic accounting and control of security standards.
NOC can be based on either Open Source or commercial systems.
The Information Security Centre, CERT
The most important benefits of the CERT are to co-ordinate national and international incidence response, the dissemination of pro-active material to prevent incidences and to act as the centre of excellence in incidence analysis. CERT has a proactive and reactive role in providing information security for its country or organization.
Security Operations Centre (SOC)
SOC is a real-time, centralized and integrated management centre for all security threats and solutions. Security events from separate systems, such as firewalls, anti-virus systems, intrusion prevention and detection systems, access control, identity management, and authentication systems are collected, analyzed and reported in an efficient way.
The technical solutions need efficient policies and procedures and trained experts to create operations for guaranteeing the compliancy for different security frameworks and standards.
